Highlights from the BIO CEO and Investor Conference Panel: “Market Outlook: Assessing Readiness for the Next IPO Window”

Ryan and the other panelists shared their thoughts on the biotech IPO market outlook.
Some highlights from the session include:
- Positive Outlook – The panelists predict a strong outlook for biotech companies looking to go public. After a few slow years, they anticipate a healthier pace of IPOs.
- Macroeconomic Factors – Between the Federal Reserve’s indications of lower interest rates and investors rich with “dry powder” due to earnings from mergers or staying out of the market for a couple of years, robust M&A activity is driving enthusiasm for the biotech market.
- Preparation is Key – Companies should prepare well in advance for IPOs. Ryan shared, “Get ahead of it now, and you’ll be ready when the time comes and you can take advantage of it. You can present yourself in a much better light.”
Following the preparation theme, Ryan urged companies to “Let the science dictate the value. Don’t let financial statements and things of that nature get in the way.” Companies should focus on their story, the value of their research, and the milestones achieved. When they are diligent in keeping their financial statements and related valuations and processes in order, they won’t be held back in completing a transaction.
