Thomas Nelson

Tom has been a Senior Claim Analyst at Altair Associates, Inc.. Tom has more than 45 years of property and casualty claims and management experience. He Joined Altair Associates in 2017.

Prior to Altair, Tom served as the Vice President of Claims for Continental Western Group, located in Urbandale, Iowa.  Tom was a key member of the senior leadership team and had overall responsibility to set the strategic direction of the claims department plus responsible for all operational and technical results.  The first twenty-seven years of Tom’s property and casualty insurance career included claims and management positions at St. Paul Companies with experience in a variety of areas, including medical malpractice, public entity, professional liability and operations.  Tom served in a variety of roles, including Claim Officer of Operations, Assistant Vice President of Public Sector claims and Regional Assistant Vice President of Healthcare Claims.  During his time with Altair, Tom has performed a wide variety of claim and operational reviews.

Tom received a BA with a major in Economics and Business from Gustavus Adolphus College. He holds his CPCU (Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriters); SCLA (Senior Claim Law Associate – American Educational Institute) and AIM ( Associate in Management – The Institutes).
