Mihir Jhaveri Featured in Washington Business Journal’s The Key to ESG

Centri’s Mihir Jhaveri, Managing Director and ESG Practice Leader, was recently featured in Washington Business Journal’s “The Key to ESG” article. Within the article, Mihir gives insight into the importance of ESG, and how companies can start preparing for their ESG journey.

ESG, which stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance, is a framework used by companies and investors to evaluate and assess the sustainability and societal impact of a business. ESG is important for companies to take a holistic approach to sustainability and responsible business practices, considering not only their financial performance, but also their environmental and social impacts, as well as their governance practices.

Emphasizing ESG can lead to better risk management, enhanced reputation, stakeholder trust, and long-term sustainability. Mihir describes his ESG philosophy as “connecting purpose and profit to people and planet.” It’s ultimately about how you run your company. “We heavily focus on profit and purpose of the company,” Mihir stated. “But how do we take that and tie it to: How do you protect the planet and what do you do good in society?”

At Centri, Mihir’s expertise lends to educating the Board of Directors and Senior Management on ESG reporting requirements and providing a high-level plan to start their ESG journey. As ESG reporting requirements rapidly evolve, Mihir predicts that the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) will include climate-related disclosures by public companies by the end of April or May.

Mihir has a few words of advice for companies and stakeholders concerned about getting the reporting requirements right: “You’re not alone. Every company will require this. Find an expert to help guide you through the steps. Everybody is learning it. You know, the consultants? I’m learning every day.”
