Getting Back to Basics:
HR Technology is Great but…

Are you bending under the proliferation of HR technology platforms being pushed as a solution for all your HR needs and challenges?

Quality, Not Quantity

There is no doubt that these technologies/platforms can add significant value and support to the delivery of a company’s HR agenda. Self-service, for example, certainly can go a long way toward offloading some of what is on your HR organization’s plate.

However, focus on the delivery of HR services, while necessary, is not sufficient for HR to be done well.  It simply doesn’t tell the entire story.  Two other critical drivers have recently, unfortunately, begun to take a back seat in the rush to (over)rely on HR technology.  Specifically, the development of sound HR or human capital strategy and the design and integration of effective HR/Talent programming seems to have fallen a bit out of fashion. Time and attention paid to these critical drivers of organizational success has, sadly, waned in the last few years.

Both are necessary to ensure you have the appropriate talent in place to help drive the growth of your business and achieve the organization’s strategic objectives. Attraction, engagement, and retention of top talent is still the name of the game, irrespective of how clever one’s business model might be. Value is created through the people in the organization!

Align Your HR Strategy

HR delivery, alone, does not fully burnish a company’s employment value proposition nor serve as the primary factor in creating a compelling employee experience. It is the interconnectedness and alignment of HR strategy, thoughtful and integrated talent programming, AND delivery that wins the day.

Impactful HR should not be reduced to choosing items from a menu of options (e.g., competencies, core values) without strategic underpinnings.  Expediency and efficiency are certainly noble and practical goals, but to position HR as a full-fledged business success enabler, companies will need to dig a bit deeper.

If you want to ensure that your HR organization is delivering exactly what your business requires to be successful, Centri can help. For more information on our HR Advisory services, our HR Advisory Pulse Assessment and how our firm can help your organization, contact our experts.
